A Recent Find

This was taken by Eric Torrie. Visit his blog to see more of his amazing work.

Arizona Dancesport Academy

Recently I teamed up with Shae Taylor (a BYU Tour Team Alumni) and Eric Bramwell to start a youth ballroom program in the Gilbert area. Not only do I get to teach, but I also work on marketing among other things. Check out our blog and our website! We've got a great program here that is growing each week. I love teaching these kids. I can't wait for them to start competing and performing!

Ballroom + Lizzy = True Love

When I was little, I just loved ballet because it was so girly. I got to wear pink to class, dance to pretty music, and then I actually got to wear make up and beautiful costumes for my recitals. I didn't think it could get much better.

***Then I grew up and I discovered ballroom***

I think I was made for it--it incorporates my favorite things. I get to dress up and twirl around in beautiful gowns, with rhinestones galore and wearing gaudy jewelry that I wouldn't normally wear, have beautifully elegant hair, and french tipped nails and to top it all off, I get to dance in the arms of a handsome man who sweeps me across the dance floor.
{Blissful Sigh} How much better can life get?

The Blessings Keep Coming

One would think that after all I've been blessed with this summer there cannot possibly be anymore blessings waiting for me--but they keep coming!
Moving into a new apartment with people I didn't know really had me nervous, but I was blessed with Lisa, who is absolutely amazing. My other 2 roommates are great as well.
As for ballroom, all I needed for my minor was 1 gold class and 1 more semester on team. I was blessed to be in 2 gold classes (Gold 2 Standard and American Smooth) and I made team! So I will graduate with a ballroom minor for certain.
Brenton and I had decided on competing smooth together but we didn't know how we'd be able to cover the costs of another lesson. Well, one day I was sitting in the hall in the RB and a former teacher of mine called me into her office. She asked if I would join her smooth class this semester because she was in need of girls and she thought I would be really good at smooth. This one class, which is only offered once a year, is the only one that teaches smooth routines. Quelle chance!! Brenton and I can just use the class routines for our smooth competitions and we won't have to pay for lessons to have someone choreograph for us. Wow!
Honestly, the blessings just keep coming. I must really be loved =)

My trip to Provo, Part 2

The next day was BYU's first ever Summer Dancesport Challenge. Brenton and I competed in 6 events and with all of the callbacks we ended up dancing 21 times! We were so exhausted!! Our competitions went from 12:05-6:20pm. We competed in Novice and Pre-Champ Standard and Latin, plus the gold class events of foxtrot and westcoast swing. We placed 5th in Foxtrot, 6th in Westcoast, and then made it to the quarter-finals in the rest of the events (except pre-champ Latin). Wow! That's pretty dang good after practicing for really only 1 week. In fact, we practiced the Westcoast about 10 minutes and Foxtrot only 20 minutes. Here are some pictures:
