Ballet Under the Stars - Year 3!

Wowzers! Can you believe it? Jeff and I have actually done something for 3 years in a row! You may remember this post "Our First Kiss" from last year. Well now we have another year of Ballet Under the Stars to put up!

This year, my favorite piece was from "Rubies"

Amazing!!
There were lots of changes from last year to this year! First, we broke down and wore different clothes and we didn't eat chicken like the last few years. Uh oh. We're breaking the trend!
Also, they built a new bridge over Tempe Town Lake

And most importantly!! We have a baby!! He's the best. Scotty loved the performance. He was memorized by the music and dancing and kept dancing along!

I hope the video works. It's my first time trying to post a video! Sorry it's sideways. I can't rotate a video. Just tilt your head ; )

(A nice person took this picture of us)

Some things just never change though. We are still as weird as ever :)

I love my family!!!

Since it was the 2nd anniversary of our first kiss, we HAD to take kissing pictures :)

BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff passed all 3 of his AEPA exams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 very evil, 4-hour long tests.
And he passed them all on his first try! Yep that's my man. A Genius :)
What is that you ask? The Arizona Educator Proficiency Exam.
The only thing that stands between him and his teaching career now is student teaching!
Which, by the way, he will be doing in the fall at Johnson Elementary. The same school this crazy kid went to when he was little.

He'll be graduated in December! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 1 Week!!

These pictures are of Scotty any where from 5 hours old to 5 days old

Scotty is 1 week old today! I can't even believe it. Time has flown by already. I know it's only been a week since he was born but it feels like we've had him forever. It's This little boy has brought us so much joy! I didn't know it was possible to love someone like this. Every time I think "How could I love any more than I already do?" But each day the love for this little boy and his daddy grows deeper and deeper. Scott really has the most amazing daddy. Jeff is the best dad a kid could ask for and a better husband than a wife could ever dream of. I am the luckiest woman ever.
I love my men!!!

"Danny in Wonderland" pt 1

Last May, the Bishop called me into his office and asked if I would be the ward director for the stake roadshow that would be put on at the beginning of November. It was to be a 10 minute musical production about a character, story, or idea that came from the Old Testament.

The following week I was sitting at work and ideas just kept coming. "What if we did Daniel and the Lion's Den except that when he fell into the hole it ends up being the rabbit hole from Alice in Wonderland?" Thus "Danny in Wonderland" was born. I spent the entire summer writing this show, making rehearsal schedules, pre-casting it (so we wouldn't have to waste time with auditions), dreaming about it (those turned into nightmares actually), choosing music (thankfully a wonderful sister in the ward helped rewrite the lyrics to the songs), and choreographing dances. I was so gung-ho about this!!

Then we presented it to the ward council and guess what. It got shot down so fast by the YM and YW leaders. It was awful. They were worried about it taking too much "time". Don't get me started on it taking too much time. I had already spent over 100 hours working on this and we hadn't had 1 practice yet!! They weren't willing to give me the rehearsal time we needed and totally started ripping apart the idea of a roadshow. Thankfully, the Bishop was in full support and told them it didn't matter what they thought, we were going to do this and they were going to be supportive. By the end of the meeting I was sobbing. I know they weren't attacking "me" but the horrible way in which they responded felt like I had been hit by a truck. I felt so stupid for crying! Being pregnant doesn't help with the whole emotionally unstable thing! Well, let me tell you. If you ever want to make people feel bad and make them give you support just start bawling. Every time the YM's pres saw me or Jeff the rest of the day he apologized profusely. It was really amusing actually.

We started rehearsals in September and it was hit and miss with the youth. Some loved it and others were there because the leaders forced them to come. It came along slowly but surely. I really did enjoy doing it. But then they had to move the roadshow until January and eventually it got moved to February 4,5.

When that happened, we lost some steam but I'm sure we were leaps and bounds ahead of where other wards were. However with the date change, we lost our lead because he turned 19 in November, our Bishop changed and people had birthdays and changed classes or came into the mutual program. There were definitely some frustrating moments. But there were lots of fun moments as well. I really loved getting to work with the youth and just getting to know them! They are an awesome group of kids.

It definitely got harder and harder the further into my pregnancy I became! Thank goodness for my incredible husband who helped me so much every week and helped me every step of the way. Also, another younger sister in the ward, Jenny, was a HUGE help and blessing in this whole thing. Those two fantastic people never bailed on me. They were amazing helps, and really I would have died before putting this show on if it weren't for them.

Come January, because it was FINALLY going to happen, I finally had more support from the leaders and parents. Life would have been so much easier if they had been willing to help before! But at least they stepped it up. The closer it got, the youth really started getting pumped up about it. It was fantastic!
Finally, I could see some of the fruits of my labors coming forth.

Alrighty, I'm getting tired of posting right now and I'm having contractions so the rest of the story including the rockin' performances and pictures will have to be in a later post.

The Best Year of My Life, pt1

I have been married to the most amazing man for over 1 year now! Can you believe how fast time flies??!?!
We started out our anniversary celebrations by going to the temple. It is so beautiful. It was nice to hear the same words we heard when we were married. It just gives us an added drive to be good and keep God's commandments because we sure as heck want the blessings promised there!

Of course some things have changed in the last year we've been married... like my waist size!
Just a little bigger no? haha

Of course we couldn't let a special occasion pass us by without going to Nielsens. MMmmmm it's so good!

Then we drove up to Flagstaff for the weekend. We had brought lots of talks on CD and such to listen to but we didn't listen to 1! We talked and talked and laughed the whole way there. It's amazing how we never seem to run out of things to say.

This was taken at a rest stop on our way. The clouds were amazing!

Survivor!

Jeff survived another semester! Yay!!! and more than that, he passed with flying colors. I am so proud of him and how well he's done. Like usual, I stressed out too much but I'm the wife, that's what I'm supposed to do :) Now he has a month off of classes and it has been so wonderful to have him home more and us stressing less.

Only 1 more semester of classes and then he'll start student teaching!

Thanks for putting so much time and effort into preparing yourself to provide for our family, Babe. I really appreciate all you do for us!

My SUPER Birthday Day

I just turned 23...I feel kinda old.

My wonderful husband made sure I had a "Super" day. After getting to sleep in, I woke up to a hand made card telling me about my super day. He also posted superman signs all over the apartment to remind me how super I am. I took one of those and stuck it on my stretchy pants and wore it all day... SUPER TUMMY!

(25 Weeks)

The table was covered in presents for me :)

He got me an 8" frying pan (I've been wanting a new one for a long, long time), shampoo and conditioner, and a digital kitchen scale... woo hoo!!!!!!

Oh and later a HUGE box came for me with the most fantastic maternity pillow ever. I'm not sure how I slept without it before!
THANK YOU JEFFREY!!!

We made sure to visit all 3 Joe's restuarants to get my $10 of free birthday food (Liberty Market, Joe's BBQ, Joe's Farm Grill). We also celebrated our niece's birthday at her Princess Party.

Basically, my whole day was just fantastic and best of all, I have a SUPER husband who loves and adores me. He is the most amazing, thoughtful, loving, joyful man in the world. I can't even dream up a better man, because he is the man of my dreams :)
Thanks hun for loving me despite my getting old :*

Oh and the birthday goodness continued for a couple of weeks since both of our families had a birthday dinner for me! Thanks family!!

Our first kiss...again :)

Just over a year ago, Jeff took me out for a romantic date.
It started out with him bringing me a beautiful flower... just because :)
Then we went to Tempe Town Lake to see Ballet Arizona's "Ballet Under the Stars"

We got lost on the way because of the GPS, got stuck in tons of traffic, and ended up parking in the VERY last parking space there was (no joke.). We couldn't find our blanket someone had put out for us and then our picnic dinner had gotten kinda cold and we got there so late that we only caught the last 15 minutes of the performance. But it was an AMAZING date. We were both on cloud 9.
After the performance, we walked around until we found my blanket. Then we took a lovely stroll down by the lake where he kissed me for the first time

 Scroll forward 1 year!

One excited wife picked up one handsome husband from work and we headed out to the lake. (notice the same outfits). This time we knew how to get there AND how to avoid most of the traffic. Good work honey! We actually got to see most of the show!

We even had the same foods for dinner and everything :) But there were a few differences...
1. We're married!!!  2. It wasn't our first kiss.... maybe our 10 billionth one 3. We're expecting a baby boy!!
But somethings never change...
We're still just as goofy and weird as ever...if not more so now!

It was beautiful and so fun to relive a very special date.
These came the next night...
What started as just 1 flower a year ago, has turned into dozens and dozens more since. I love my amazing husband who randomly surprises me with flowers!

I'm the luckiest :)

Spring Break!!

When I went to school, I chose BYU over ASU because I couldn't find any way I liked ASU over BYU. More than a year after I graduated BYU, I have finally found one... ASU gets SPRING BREAK!!!

Now you'd think since I'm already graduated that it wouldn't matter to me, but my hunky husband is going to school at ASU and that foreign concept of Spring Break came as a welcome relief.

Although we both still had to work, we managed to find time to have some fun.

We went to a Cubbies Spring Training game and because my father in law rocks, we got to sit in the Mayor's Box right behind home plate. Best way to watch a game. I am now officially spoiled.

The following day, we finally got to utilize the tent we got as a wedding present.

Yep! We went camping! I'm not a real camper but I think Jeff can help cure me of that. We had such a great time.

The weather was perfect for camping and Arizona was so green!! (Ok green for a desert. No comments saying it's not green! haha)

When we returned, I wanted to take a cold shower only to find out that we had no cold water, only piping hot water. Yuck! Thankfully we live near my in-laws and we used their nice cold water.

Saturday rocked! We got up early and went to the temple, which is one of my favorite things to do with Jeff, made a delicious breakfast, totally cleaned our apartment and hung more picture frames on the walls and such. I love having a clean apartment! and having stuff on the walls makes it feel more like home (well except that we haven't put pictures in those frames yet so we have pictures of random people on our walls).

Although this week was a break from school for Jeff and teaching for me, it was not a break from the play. So after all of our house work, I had a matinee performance, got a massage and ice cream between shows, had another rocking show that night, and ended the night by going out with my husband, the cast, crew and friends to Oreganos. We came home exhausted and crashed. But it was such a good day! Such a good week!!

For not being a student, this Spring Break was one of the best I've ever had!!

Happy Birthday My Love!

Jeff's birthday was last month and since we are both ridiculously busy all the time, we had to spread out his birthday celebrations over about 2 weeks.

First, a birthday dinner at the Hunt's House...

On his actual birthday, we celebrated by eating a fabulous ice cream cake made by his adoring wife. Mmmm....I think the birthday boy looks better than the cake!

The following night, we went to ASU Gammage to see the Broadway Show, "Mary Poppins" (No photography allowed, hence the blurry pictures...no flash!)

The next of the birthday festivities was a birthday dinner at the Brintons...

Finally we had an evening where we could celebrate his birthday together...
Welcome to Café Brinton!

On the menu was Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo (complete with homemade noodles!) with sauteed vegetables, salad, garlic bread, and to top it off ice cream cake! (leftover from the other cake I made him)

I married the most wonderful man in the world. I'm so grateful that he's part of my life!! People say marriage is hard (and I'm sure hard times will come eventually) but being his wife has been the easiest role I've ever had. Jeff is an amazing husband though so it definitely helps me be a good wife. I am so lucky...no "blessed". It brings me such joy knowing that I can have him forever. Happy birthday, Babe! I love you!!!

Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Brinton

On January 8th, 2010 I married my best friend who is the most wonderful man in the Mesa LDS Temple. Our family and friends joined us in the Temple for a beautiful ceremony. Normally Jeff is the crier and I am not, but that day as we were both sitting there beaming, I was the one shedding tears of joy. The day I had only dreamed of and imagined my whole life was finally here and I was so overwhelmed with wonderful emotions and feelings I couldn't help it! I felt so blessed to be marrying this incredible man. I did not know it was possible to love someone so much.

The reception was absolutely beautiful. Thank you SOOOO much to everyone that helped. It was picture perfect. Speaking of pictures, I'll be posting more soon.

I don't know what I did to deserve Jeff but I thank my Heavenly Father everyday for him.

The Night I Got Engaged (Not the full story, sorry!)

Jeff's sister, Staci is wonderful and has blogged about several events that have happened in my recent past. Like the night Jeff and I got engaged! She helped Jeff put his plans into action. Read about it here.
