This evening my mom and I enjoyed a benefit concert for the Symphony of the Southwest. It was held in the gorgeous home of our friends. The performance consisted of two string quartets who performed works by Mendelhsson and Debussey. I must say, of these particular pieces, I preferred Mendelhsson's over Debussey, which surpirsed me because I typically really enjoy Debussey's work. But one reason for this could have been that I was so distracted during the Debussey number because I was trying to figure out if one of the violinist's um..."partner" was the guy sitting in front of us, which I think he was and that was rather disturbing. Anyways! back to the music. Really, both pieces were lovely and confession: hearing such talented musicians perform made me feel very guilty that I haven't seriously practiced the piano in who knows how long. Afterwards we ate decadent desserts including a four layer chocolate cake (which again made me feel guilty!) and we shmoozed. I must say, I felt very refined attending such an event (regardless of it being guilt-filled)!
Overall, what a classy way to spend a Friday night.
